Shirley Ann Best, 72, of Yorkville, IL and formerly of Aurora, IL, passed away on September 17, 2022. She was born June 15, 1950 the daughter of Pauline and Albert Wallo.
Shirley had a passion for teaching. She began her teaching career at Plainfield Central High School, was a teacher and counselor later at West Aurora High School, and retired her teaching and counseling career after 38 years at East Aurora High School, where she was the head teacher in a program that began during her time there to assist pregnant teen students to help them succeed. Shirley loved her friends, family, and students. She hosted many family gatherings at home and loved having her children home for holidays.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 50 years, Everett Best; sons, Scott (Melissa) Best and Jared Best; and granddaughter, Peyton Audrey Best.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and Albert Wallo; and her mother and father-in-law.

Family will be receiving guests on Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave, Montgomery, IL 60538. A funeral service will take place on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 10:00 AM also at Dieterle Memorial Home. Interment will follow service at Lincoln Memorial Park.
