Kim Zentmyer of Oswego, IL passed away at her home on Saturday May 8, 2021. She was born May 16, 1952 in Aurora, IL, the daughter of James and Doris (Grate) Zentmyer. Kim was a kindergarten teacher in the Indian Prairie School District in Naperville, IL for over 35 years. Kim’s life was lived devoted to children within and out of the classroom. She loved spending time with her niece Pam from Colorado, and nieces Amanda and Melissa who affectionately called her Mimi. Her love of children extended to other little ones as they came into the family. Her hobbies included a great love for the Beatles, quilting, writing children’s books, and playing the guitar. Her love of music was infectious and her sister Kelly was the beneficiary of Kim’s guitar lessons even to the point of songs written by Kim herself. Kim also wrote many of her kindergarten class musicals. Kim was a member of Holy Angels Church and volunteered at Holy Angels Food Pantry and St. Vincent DePaul. Kim leaves to cherish her memory, her brothers, Robert (Kathy), Brad (Michelle), David (Gail) and a sister, Kelly (Jason) Maxwell. Also, 3 special nieces, Pam (Robbie) Williams, Amanda (Patrick) Olson, Melissa (Luke) Young and their children, Laila, Maxine, Sylvie, Zane, Lucas, Jack, Pepper and Nina. Kim is preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents Albert and Fern Grate and Earl and Marjorie Zentmyer and sister Kay in infancy. Family will be receiving guests Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 South Broadway, Montgomery, IL. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 120 s. Lancaster Ave. , Aurora, IL 60506. Burial will be at Oswego Township Cemetery.
