Jose Ramiro Mata Hernandez

Jose Ramiro Mata Hernandez, 82, of Aurora, IL passed away on April 3, 2021. He was born on October 11, 1938 in Mexico, the son of Emilia Hernandez and Jose Socorro Mata. Family was very important since he had a rough beginning. Ramiro came to live with his father at the age of 5. He knew very little of his birth mom. When he was a young boy, his father pulled him out of school to help with the small family business. He helped in raising his siblings until his father passed. In 1975, he followed his brother, Fernando, and his young family to United States. Here he worked many different jobs, mostly in the food industry. He loved serving the Sacred Heart community over the last 36 yrs. He enjoyed being surrounded by his nieces and nephews, and later their children as well. His greatest passion was to share God’s promise, evangelizing through his Catholic bookstore once held in the basement of Sacred Heart School, and later in downtown Aurora.

Jose Ramiro is survived by his half-sibilings Fernando Mata (spouse Maria Estela Villasenor), Jose Socorro Mata, Jorge Mata (spouse Cecilia), Maria de Jesus Mata (spouse Issac Castro), Salvador Rafael Mata (Juanita Navarro), Elizabeth Mata (spouse Jesus Cervantes) Nieces: Araceli Mata, Lilian Mata Driscoll( Sean Driscoll; Cristian, Brianna, Celeste, Vanessa, Sebastian, Shauna), Rocio Mata(Fransico Mendes; Francesca), Isabel Mata( Hector Sanchez; Armani, Jayda, Dominic, Abigail), Nephew Fernando Mata Jr. (Vivian Aguilar; Vincent, Elias, Emiliano) plus many more… He is preceded in death by both parents, Jose Socorro Mata Sr. and Rafaela Andrade, and siblings Guadalupe Mata and Rodolfo Mata.

Family will be receiving guests on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dieterle Memorial Home,1120 S. Broadway Ave. Montgomery, IL 60538. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 125 N State Street, Aurora, IL 60505. Interment at Riverside Cemetery.
