Jenny S. Bishman

Jenny Susan Feltes Bishman, born July 2, 1953 in Aurora Illinois, passed away at home on February 3, 2023 in Sun City West Arizona with her loving husband Gary by her side.  She is survived by her husband Gary and seven siblings: Michael (Barbara), Martin (Melody deceased), Christopher (Rosa), Josephine (Richard) Starke, Annette (John) Morse, Laurie (Tim) Strong, and Peg (Peter) Dordal.  Jenny also leaves behind 16 nieces and nephews along with 23 great nieces and nephews and needless to say, her beloved dog Bailey.  She joins her parents, Herbert and Laurie Feltes and two brothers Melvin (Benjamin) and Kurt in the next life. 

Jenny received her BS in Education from Northern Illinois University and taught elementary education.  She then attended Aurora University for her MSW and worked for nonprofits helping children at risk. Jenny was an adjunct professor at DePaul University where she inspired many students in the social work field.  At the end of her career she was a hospice social worker.

Jenny’s career greatly informed her personal life.  She found joy in helping people and living life to the fullest. She treasured her relationships with family and friends, her meaningful travels, her daily swims and her memories of weaving textiles on the loom.

Jenny was diagnosed with advanced stage of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy late 2022. Her symptoms progressed rapidly.  Jenny always said that Gary was her rock.  He gave her the gifts of laughter, of loving care and devotion throughout their 15 year marriage.  He was her one true love.

Jenny led life with love, spreading kindness each day.

She will be greatly missed by many.
