James Richard "Rick" Thompson

James R. “Rick” Thompson, 64 of Aurora, passed away Thursday May 6, 2021 at Copley Medical Center. He was born April 10, 1957 in Aurora, IL, son of James and Patsy (Stump) Thompson. Jim Proudly served in The United States Airforce obtaining the rank of Senior Airman and was a member of the Security Forces.  Jim was employed as a Direct Service Provider with Headstart for over 15 years. He was an avid collector of many things including coins and tools. He enjoyed helping anyone one who was in need, and loved spending time with family and friends. Jim is survived by a son, David (James and Mark), a daughter, Jennifer Leffelman (Miles) Hurr, a sister, Linda Stees, a brother William (Jennifer), a granddaughter and pride and joy, Adrina and many other nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edith, 2 Brothers, Michael and James E., grandparents, Weldon and Ruth I. Stump and very dear friend Richard Leffelman. Family will be receiving guests Wednesday May 12, 2021 from 3pm until time of service at 7pm at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery.
