Dona Kare - Kowalski

 Dona Kare – Kowalski , 68, passed peacefully this morning at Seasons Hospice in Naperville. She had been battling various health issues for a while; diabetes, auto-immune, etc.   I was with her last night, but she was unable to respond or awaken.  As a nurse for 40+ yrs, first at Loyola, and then at Edward Elmhurst, her life was spent in the service of helping others.  As my wife, she very patiently allowed me to pursue my music and career without question or complaint, and supported my efforts to be a successful musician/composer. She also spent many hours and much effort giving back to the animal rescue organization known as Guardian Angel Basset Rescue (GABR) of which we were both longtime members of. (Little does anyone know that she wrote the lyrics to one of my early compositions for the basset rescue organization known as "Let's Go To The Waddle", now sung & loved by thousands over the years. ) Everyone who knew her held her in their hearts as a special, caring soul who would do anything for anyone at anytime. Dona made the lives of whomever she touched better, including mine. I loved & respected her dearly. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Bob, a sister, Mary Forkenbrock, a niece, Marcy Long as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives.  We will be planning a celebration of her life within the next 2 weeks, and I will announce the time & location when appropriate.
