Cecil G. Piggott, Jr., 92, of Oswego, IL, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora, IL. He was born May 26, 1930, in Aurora, IL; the son of Cecil and Catherine (Haskell) Piggott, Sr.
On January 18, 1952 he married the love of his life, Marilyn “Dolly” Moline. Cecil and Dolly lived in Norfolk, VA while Cecil was serving in the US Navy. In 1952 they made their home in Aurora, IL. Cecil was an Engineer for the Burlington, Northern, Santa Fee Railroad for 39 years. He was an avid Scouter for Troop 11 Wesley United Methodist Church, where he was active for 63 years in numerous committees. He also spent many many hours doing family Genealogy, tracing his family back to the 1600’s.
Cecil is survived by his 2 children, Mary Chidester of Hertford, NC and Larry (Shirley Miller) Piggott of Aurora; 6 grandchildren, Robert (Sherri) Hollmier of Hertford, NC, Andrew (Ericka) Hollmier of Oswego, Peggy Denton of Elgin, Larry Piggott, Jr. of CO and Michael Stillwell of Chicago; 6 great grandchildren, Hermione and Justin, Jr., Evan and Chase, Wyatt and Norah; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn in 2016; son-in-law, Bill Chidester; brother, Frank Piggott and his sister, Carol Piggott.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway Ave., Montgomery, IL. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 20, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Aurora, IL.
