Carolyn Linnea DeWitt, 79, of Oswego, IL passed away peacefully in her home with her children by her side on January 14, 2022. She was born October 20, 1942 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Linnea and Gust Larson.

Linnea and Gust Larson, both of Swedish descent, made their home in Skokie, IL with Carolyn and her brother, Ray. Growing up she was part of the 1957 confirmation class at St. John’s Lutheran Church and was a graduate of Niles West.

She married Robert Everett DeWitt in 1965 and they made their home in Oswego, IL where they raised their daughter, Laura and son, Greg.

She was a wonderful devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She had many nieces and nephews and was affectionately known as Auntie Carolyn.

She loved her family pets and had many, including her Alaskan Malamute Tara and her childhood dog Susie. She enjoyed bowling and camping when she was younger and loved watching figure skating. She was a big Chicago Cubs fan and always enjoyed listening to Harry Carry during the 7th inning stretch.

She was very devoted to her family and left them with many wonderful memories to cherish. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage and always loved the holidays and spending time with family.

Before retiring she had worked for various companies as an accounting clerk.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Robert Everett DeWitt; her children, Laura Linnea Jankowski (Timothy) and Gregory James DeWitt; and her two grandchildren, Regan and Jacob.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Linnea and Gust Larson; and her brother, Raymond Larson.

Donations under Carolyn’s name may be made out to the National Cancer Society.

Services will be private. Arrangements entrusted to Dieterle Memorial Home.
